About the Artist
I am a fourth generation, fine artist based in the heritage town of Kenmare, Co. Kerry, Ireland. Art is my sanctuary and I feel most at home when painting. I come from a line of illustrators, painters, authors and ceramicists reaching back as far as my great grandparents.
I graduated from the Dun Laoire College of Art and Design in 1997. My particular interest there was drawing. Since leaving college I have explored many styles and media and am a versatile artist producing naive art as well as more traditional landscapes and animal art.
My narrative art is my current focus and is often inspired by my experience of everyday rural Irish life. At other times the source of inspiration is pure imagination and wish fulfilment. My art offers an escape into a childlike world of simplicity which I hope the viewer can share in. Whichever is the case my work is always flavoured by my love of the everyday, animals, and nature. I like to bring a bit of humour to my subject and hope that my art is honest and speaks for itself without the need for lengthy explanations!
